Flat Die Pellet Mills

Flat die pellet mill and ring die pellet mill are two main popular pellet machines on the current market now. The flat die pellet mill was invented first and later ring die pellet mill was made. Firstly, the flat die pellet mill was designed to produce animal feed. But as time went by, it began to produce other raw materials like wood pellets and biomass pellets after improving its dies and rollers. Flat die pellet mill can be also named small pellet mill as this kind of machine has compact structure, it is affordable and portable for most customers, high quality, low consumption. In a flat die pellet mill the die is in a horizontal position with a set of rollers providing vertical pressure down onto the surface of the die.

Pellet Mill Die
It is known to all of us pellet mills vary from shapes and functions, so does pellet mill dies. Generally speaking, there are two designs of dies-flat die and ring die. The die of pellet mill is the most essential component in the whole pellet making process, many factors are being affected by dies. The quality of pellets, the productivity, energy consumption, pellet production efficiency and reliability, all these factors are affected by pellet mill dies. Die holes’ sizes and diameter is different for different pellets. Generally speaking, die hole sizes usually range from approximately 2 mm to 10 mm. Besides, the thickness of the die is different too, pellet dies vary in thickness up to approximately 100 mm thick. The dies determine the compactness and stability of pellets. As to the materials of types of dies, they are usually made from metal alloys, stainless steel or high chrome, pressures in the die can reach up to 172,000 KPA.

Dies of Flat Die Pellet Mill
The dies of flat die pellet mill have two types of designs, one is stationery rollers with rotating die and the other is stationery die with rotating rollers. Both of the two types are small pellet mills, but the first type is suitable for residential and home use and the other type is designed to produce pellets on a much larger scale and is more suitable for light industrial purpose. The second design-stationery die with rotating rollers advantages over the first design. Firstly the service life is longer, secondly the length of the pellets is much longer too.
